Fires and Limpets.

Welcome to my new blog.
  It's going to be all about foraging for wild food. 


We started our adventure with a trip to the seaside.


Built a lovely fire.  These are the tools we use for fire making, but I'll devote a seperate post to this later.


Cooked some Limpets on the fire.


The Limpets are in abundance at rocky coastlines and the children had great fun bashing them off the rocks with pebbles.  The key to getting them off the rocks is catching them unaware with one quick sharp knock.  If you don't get them first time leave and move on to another.


You know they are cooked when the shells come off easily.  Remove and discard the black sack and enjoy.
